Today, Scott unfortunately received a two stroke penalty during his round. To make a long story short... Scott got in a fight with one of the guys in his group.
Well... not really but it would have made for a much, much better story. On their second shot on a par 5 (#16), all three guys missed the green to the right. Scott was the last player to reach the balls and was told his ball was in the pine straw. He checked his ball and saw his black line and Titleist(the rest was buried in the pine straw). Then, he hit what he thought was his ball. After he hit his third shot he realized that it was not his ball after all. Once he realized what had happened, he told the other guys and gave himself the two stroke penalty. Scott's actual ball was further up but hidden in the grass. He went on the par the whole but with his penalty was given a 7.
He was very frustrated, to say the least. This was the first time that this has ever happened to him in all of his golfing career. I'm sure this happens to every golfer at some point. It had happened to the other two guys in our group. We are just thankful that this mistake happened here and not during QSchool. We are also glad it happened during the first round because there are a lot of golf holes yet to be played!
On a more exciting note... he chipped in on 18 to make an eagle! Talk about perseverance! Thanks Rob! (Check out Rob's website on the right toolbar)
